Executive Development Programme (EDP)

How EDP works

EDP is based on the philosophy of outdoor expeditions and what we learn from living with the elements. From navigating through the Blue Mountains Wilderness, or the dramatic outback ranges in Central Australia; to mountaineering in the NZ, French, Swiss Alps, or trekking to Everest Base Camp, just about any place your imagination wants to take you.

EDP allows the team to have a REAL learning experience. No conference room games to imitate teamwork. The expedition is real, where the thinking, planning and organising has real consequences.

EDP begins on a Sunday night in a comfortable venue. The team completes the expedition and finishes on Thursday in a five star venue to conduct the final debrief, and departs back home on the Friday evening.

EDP is not “Boot Camp”. Each programme is custom designed to complement your corporate culture and meet the abilities, fitness and age of the participants.

Before, during and after the expedition, you will be facilitated through group and one-on-one discussions, debriefs and any learning models that are appropriate.

EDP - Testimonial

Adshel’s 2004 Executive Development Programme

Adshel undertook the Executive Development Programme (EDP) with Achievement Concepts in July of 2004, following a three year association with Stephen and Mara Klemich. This association has had Achievement Concepts undertake an annual Personal Effectiveness Programme for Adshel. The EDP was a programme that was aimed at the senior team for Adshel with the goal to have a substantial ‘Life experience’ as well as identify new learning opportunities for the group.

We took the team to Central Australia with a development programme “without an agenda”. This relied heavily on the skills of Stephen and Mara to introduce appropriate management concepts at the appropriate time, combined with leading the group through a wonderful physical challenge. Stephen and Mara were exceptional in the way in which they brought the group together, and their planning and implementation skills were first rate throughout the 6 days of the EDP.

I was delighted at the outcomes from the EDP, which have included a much more open and honest environment within Adshel, and would thoroughly recommend an EDP to any CEO challenged with bringing a senior team together and setting an agenda for change in an organisation. Whilst the ‘no-agenda’ concept can create concerns, the interpersonal skills and ability of Stephen and Mara as facilitators and expedition leaders completely negates any of these fears, and leaves those who attend with a renewed vigour and appreciation for the world in which we live.”

Kennards Alpine Challenge

The LSI Leadership Style survey and feedback, delivered in the environment of the New Zealand Alpine Programme, gives an added dimension to Personal Development.

Being challenged and confronted by the surroundings, while having the space and time to digest my leadership style was terrific. Stephen Klemich’s availability while having the extra space for review is a great mix.

Running my company can be very demanding. Being time-poor, there is very limited opportunity to enable good personal review. The NZ Alpine Programme took me away from e-mail and phones, and provided a great space for this.
